About Amelia
Amelia is a retired doula and childbirth educator, mom to 8 beautiful breastfed people, wife to Horace, experienced homeschool mom and navy wife. She has many interests and life experiences that she wishes to share to anyone who is seeking information about her many areas of expertise.
She served as a doula, childbirth educator, and lactation specialist in the Hampton Roads area for nearly seventeen years. Amelia is passionate about helping new doulas get started on their journey toward serving women and their families during pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and breastfeeding. One of the purposes of this website is to provide information for new doulas, expectant parents, and anyone who has an interest in supporting women.
With thirty-two years of homeschooling experience, Amelia learned many skills and has plenty of advice to share on this topic. She is dedicated to homeschooling freedoms, as well as providing resources and information for families just starting out, as well as families who are experiencing homeschool burnout.
As the wife to a thirty year Navy Veteran, she has learned the ins and outs of military required separations, how to manage difficult situations that arise when spouses are deployed (when everything goes wrong!), and out of necessity, taught herself many skills during those challenging years.
Some of those skills include, but are not limited to, creating websites, making soap, playing guitar, sewing, making cheese and yogurt, cooking, cake decorating, computer programming, photography, canning, gardening, and many more that escape her memory at the moment.
Oh, and let’s not forget about her expertise at kissing boo boos…
